Jacobs Leen

Leen Jacobs is a Belgian artist born in Beringen in 1952. She is a painter, graphic artist, poet and draftsman. She studied Free Graphics at the Municipal Academy in Heusden-Zolder under the direction of Hedwig Pauwels, she obtained the silver government medal in this discipline. She also studied Drawing at the Municipal Academy in Geel under the direction of Lucas Aussems, Model Drawing at the Hageland Academy of Fine Arts under the direction of Flor Lodewijckx and Model Painting under the direction of Herman Van Brabant, Model Drawing at the Municipal Academy of Fine Arts in Geel under led by Inge Godlinze as well as Digital Imaging led by Jan Neyens. She produces both figurative and abstract work. She sometimes combines etching and collage. From 1993 to 1996 she was chairman of the Kunstkring in Tessenderlo, where she is still very active. Won the Alphons Winters Prize in Maastricht in 2000 and, also in 2000, an honorable mention for the Karel Van Bock Prize. In 2001 she was the winner of the Cultuurpenning in Tessenderlo. (Piron, BT)
