Vanderstraeten Lea

Lea Vanderstraeten is a Belgian artist who was born in Ghent in 1929. She is a painter and draftsman. Training at the Academy in Ghent under the direction of J. De Sutter (1953-1957). Also worked in the studios of Achiel Lammens (1951-1955) and Julien Van De Veegaete (1957-1958). Realized landscapes, figures, nudes, still lifes and flowers. From the press: "Her painting is an ode to the life and flowering of plants and crops. Her neo-expressionism is calm and robust, serene and aesthetic" and "Wart L.V. paints has ties with a Flemish expressionism. The robustness is one of the characteristics of her oeuvre; but there is always a kind of endearment present in her oeuvre, endearment because of the beauty of things and the sensuality of the characters" and "The brushstroke is realistic. The image generous and generous; yellow, orange, ocher-green and brown predominate. That is why her very well-filled canvases remind us of the richness, a ripeness of late summer, juicy fruits, flowers full of color." (NV) He regularly exhibited in the gallery Vyncke-Van Eyck in Ghent and also exhibited in Paris, Toronto/Canada and Kobe/Japan. Work in the Museums in Deinze, Sint-Martens-Latem, Sint-Amandsberg and Überhausen/Germany. Mentioned in BAS I and Two centuries of signatures of Belgian artists. Source: Piron
