Le Mayeur de Merprés Adrien-Char
Adrien Le Mayeur De Merprès was a Belgian artist, born in Boitsfort in 1844 and died in Brussels in 1923. He was a painter and etcher. He was the father of Jean Le Mayeur. In 1870 he made his debut at the Salon in Brussels. He was sometimes close to the Dendermonde School, thanks to his friendship with Is. Meyers. Adrien Le Mayeur created landscapes and marines. He was especially known for his seascapes, in which he managed to capture the atmosphere, poetry and grandeur of sea and sky. His realistic style appears sunny. He also leaned towards pointillism for a certain time. We find his work in the Museums in Brussels, Mons and Namur. He is mentioned in BAS I, II and Two centuries of signatures of Belgian artists.
