Lambrecht Constant
Constant Lambrecht was a Belgian artist, born and died in Roeselare (1915-1993). He was a painter and sculptor. He was educated at the Academy in Roeselare and at the Grande Chaumière in Paris, under the direction of Zadkine and Ed, among others. gogh. After the Second World War, he returned to Paris several times, where he became acquainted with the work of Picasso, Braque and de Staël. Like de Staël, he started from reality, but abandoned the representation of the scene for a compositional structure. He received mentions at the prize of the Jeune Peinture Belge in 1951 and 1954. In a personal way and with his own color scheme, he continued on the path of Flemish expressionism. His painterly oeuvre evolved into a lyrical abstraction in which he always started from figuration. The images he made testify to a great expressive power. Constant Lambrecht is mentioned in Two centuries of signatures of Belgian artists. (piron)
