Klagsbrun Viviane
Viviane Klagsbrun is a Belgian painter, born in 1956. She lives and works in Antwerp. She paints landscapes, flowers, nudes, compositions and interiors with figures. Her female creatures are often depicted in rather unusual situations, such as fights and kidnappings. She also paints abstracted landscapes. From the press: “Her use of color puts us in an alienating state of mind and commands attention” and “Her landscapes refer to the traditional seventeenth- or eighteenth-century Dutch landscape on the river, with cows in the meadow, or to an everyday scene such as a lady with a dog at the front door and on the other hand they evoke a contemporary way of painting; with areas of color in the background that contrast sharply with the atmosphere of the first glance,” and finally, “V.K. paints and draws with broad, heavy stripes and swirls and captures landscapes in nervous, brutally spontaneous sketchy overviews. All her works radiate the palpable pleasure of following, with eye and hand, the lively lines and volumes of nature.” (G.G./W.T., 2002). Viviane Klagsbrun took part in the Open Ateliers in Antwerp in 1995. (Piron)
