Keustermans Jan
Jan Keustermans was a Belgian artist, born in Wommelgem in 1917 and died in Wommelgem in 2009. He was a painter, draughtsman, watercolorist, printmaker and sculptor. In his early scraperboards, compositions scratched on a black background, he incorporated symbolist or heraldic elements from the Campine region, especially pine trees. Later he became fascinated by minerals and ores. Many of his watercolors and etchings are pure evocations of the Campine landscape. In 1959 he exhibited at Studio H. De Braekeleer in Antwerp. He worked in Zoersel. (Piron)
