Antwerpse Kunstschilder Karel de Posson

de Posson Karel

Karel or Charles de Posson was a Belgian painter born in Antwerp in 1889 and died there in 1960. He was a student of Mortelmans and Rosier. He had a preference for landscapes, cityscapes, still lifes and portraits. He loved dramatic cloudy skies, so he sifted the powerful sunlight. He synthesized the subjects, which often also reflect a certain romance and melancholy. From the press: “K.D.P. we especially appreciate it as the painter of panoramic life who makes his broad light visions flutter open and blow open; as a painter of Scheldt views and solar apotheoses where he, as in real symphonies, makes the light images flutter.” Listed in CRICK, BAS III. (PIRON)
