Trotteyn Jos

Jos Trotteyn, or Joseph Cornelis Trotteyn, is a Belgian artist who was born in 1910 in Blankenberge and died in Dentergem in 2002. He was a painter and restorer. Training at the Academy in Ghent under the direction of F. De Boever, O. Coddron, A. De Cuyper (1923-1933). Became a teacher and then, until 1963, director of the Steurbaut Higher School of Painters in Ghent. Surrealist with eternal themes: life and death, destruction, tragedy of the human condition, but also more glorifying themes such as the female beauty. Worked in an extremely neat glazing technique. Work in, among others, the Saint Bavo Cathedral in Ghent (The disciples around the master).
