Stokbroekx Jos
Jos Stokbroekx is a Belgian artist who was born in Berchem in 1898 and who died in Turnhout in 1968. He was a painter and etcher. His parents settled in Turnhout in 1899. Education at the Academy in Turnhout. Found his inspiration in Kempen heath landscapes. He managed to capture the silence of the landscape in his works. Loved the heath with the shabby little farms, the flowering broom, the soft sand with dry grass under a bright or melancholy light. Mentioned in Two centuries of signatures of Belgian artists.
