Couture Jos (Joseph)
Joseph Couture was a Belgian artist, born in Forêt/Trooz in 1890 and died in Liège in 1965. He was a painter and watercolourist. He was educated at the Academy in Liège under the supervision of A. De Witte, A. Donnay, E. Carpentier and F. Maréchal. He has realized, among other things, flowers, still lifes, Italian and Ardennes landscapes, harbours, marines and canal views. He exhibited, among other things, at the 47th Salon of the Circle of Art and Knowledge in Ghent in 1946, with the Cercle Royal des Beaux-Arts in Liège from 1923 to 1961. He was a teacher at the Academy in Liège from 1921 to 1965. Work by Joseph Couture can be found in the Musée de l'Art Wallon in Liège, among other places. He is listed in the Lexicon of East Flemish painters and sculptors 1700-1940 (Daniël Van Ryssel, 2008). (piron)
