Stroebel Johannes

Dutch painter Johannes Anthonie Balthazar Stroebel was born in 1821 and died in 1905. He mainly painted figure pieces, mostly in 17th century costumes. He was also known for his Dutch interiors with incident sunlight, inspired by Pieter de Hoogh. He also created lithographs and etchings. He alternately signed his work with Stroebel and J. Stroebel.
