Johannes Eerdmans Nederlandse schilder

Eerdmans Johannes

The Dutch Frisian painter Johannes Eerdmans has developed a style that is reminiscent of the Romantic school. He was born in Sneek on 15 October 1950 and grew up in Bolsward. From an early age he was interested in drawing sailing ships. He studied for some time at the Leeuwarden art academy "Vredeman de Vries Stichting", but did not feel at home there because the prescribed art direction, in his view, was too modern. From that time on, he followed his own path and continued to draw and paint at his own discretion. He prefers to paint still lifes, but Johannes also paints cityscapes, boats and ice and summer landscapes, mostly in small sizes. He is mainly praised for the fine details and the special atmosphere that emanates from his paintings.
