Belgische kunstenaar Jehan Frison

Frison Jehan

Jehan Frison, born in Brussels in 1888 and died in Linkebeek in 1961, is a painter, aquafortist, draftsman, wood carver and Belgian engraver. He studied at the Saint-Josse-ten-Noode Academy and between 1896 and 1902 he took his artistic training at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels. It is under the influence of Auguste Oleffe that he will have a preference for landscapes, still lifes, seascapes, figures and domestic interiors. He travels to London and in Paris he encounters to the Post-Impressionism. He uses a clear and pure palette with a thick and colored paste. He visited Morocco twice (1917 and 1928). These trips had a profound influence in the expression of his future artistic creations.
