Jeannette West Belgische kunstschilderes

West Jeannette

Jeannette West is a Belgian artist from the second half of the 20th century, who works in Kruibeke. She is a painter. Self-taught. Born in Sleidinge; working in Kruibeke and Bornem. She was already captivated by drawing at a young age and developed herself as a painter in an autodidact manner. Finds her inspiration mainly in nature and thus paints floral compositions, images and portraits of animals. Later, portraits of women were also created, often incorporating the model's favorite flowers into the painting. From the press: 'When taking a walk in nature, it is not only the beautiful views that count for her, but above all the fauna and flora in her immediate vicinity. She makes her own creations with the picked wild flowers and other flowers. They are put on canvas in a three-dimensional and detailed way, in such a way that one has the impression of having a real bouquet in the house. What applies to her flowers, also applies to the animals she paints. Sheep, deer and swans, as well as portraits of dogs and jumping horses, which she makes on commission, are put on canvas in such a detailed way that one is tempted to pet the animals in the painting.” Led his own gallery in Bornem and exhibited annually in the Sint-Jozefskapel in Brasschaat. Also exhibited in the gallery of the Castle Steyelinck in Wilrijk in 1982. (Piron)
