Hoste Ingrid

Ingrid Hoste is a Belgian artist, born in Varsenare in 1961. She is a painter, draftsman, and watercolorist, and is self-taught. She began her career as a watercolorist of landscapes and figures but later switched to oil paint and moved towards abstraction. From the press: "I.H. lets colors converse with each other, allowing the viewer to give their own interpretation," and "Her paint surfaces possess a tenderness in their rigor, something that still refers to the gesture of careful creation," and "She likes to refer to her recent works as 'landscapes,' which are inner, virtual landscapes. We do not see real landscapes in the classical, realistic sense, but rather a creative interplay of lines and forms that can be encompassed under the term landscapes." (F. Bonneure, 2005). Ingrid Hoste held solo exhibitions at the cultural center in Brussels in 1990, 1994, and 1999, at the Di Coyle art center in Beernem in 2000 and 2009, participated in Kunst in eigen huis in Bruges in 2002, and in Buren bij Kunstenaars in Bruges in 2005 and 2009. She is active in Assebroek. She is listed in the Lexicon of West Flemish Visual Artists iv. (Piron)
