
Hofman Jean
Jan Cornelis Hofman, alias Jean Hofman, was a Dutch artist who was born in Nieuwer-Amstel (Netherlands) in 1889 and died in Schaarbeek in 1966. He started as a decorator and painter of porcelain in Delft (Netherlands). He worked in Brussels from 1913. His artistic preferences for post-impressionism resulted in painting Flemish landscapes, marines, farm interiors, still lifes and flowers, but very few portraits. He was a member of the group «L'Effort» and is mainly considered a Belgian artist. Mentioned in Two centuries of signatures of Belgian artists. (Piron, BT)
