Heymans Pierre
Pierre Heymans is a Belgian artist, born in Brussels in 1935. He is a painter, draftsman, watercolorist and poet. He spent part of his childhood in Canada (1939–1946). He studied visual arts education at Sint-Thomas in Brussels and continued his training at the Academies of Sint-Joost-ten-Node and Ixelles. He created landscapes (Canada, Brittany, the Ardennes, the South of France), seascapes, beach scenes, Brussels cityscapes, interiors, children’s portraits, nudes and little dancers. His work breathes intimacy, sensitivity and freshness, with a particular attention to light. He published several books featuring his own drawings and watercolors, including Brussels city views, his children and ballet scenes. He was a teacher at the Art School in Ixelles. His work can be found in the Print Room in Brussels. He is listed in BAS I and Two Centuries of Signatures of Belgian Artists (Piron).
