Belgische kunstenaar Graba of Ignace De Graeve

Graba

Graba - pseudonym of Ignace De Graeve - was a Belgian artist who was born in Ghent in 1940 and who died in Bruges in 2016. He was a painter, draftsman, etcher and designer of furniture and jewelery. Training in decorative arts at Sint-Lucas in Ghent. Often works in series. His works often come across as overwhelming and warm in color. From the press: “Grabà illustrates a new Renaissance, based on expertise, cultural baggage and original ideas. Symbol and expression are the dominant guidelines in his art. Grabà has culture, this indefinable conglomerate of artistic involvement with the natural life of man.” The "Les Fleurs du Mal series" was created in 1977. From the press about this: "Grabà has tried to approach Baudelaire's world of thought and also tried to respect the structure of his poetry collection." Was a professional journalist, programmed classical music at the BRT and managed a design agency. Mentioned in BAS II and Two centuries of signatures of Belgian artists. Source: Piron
