Cosyns Gies

Gies Cosyns was a Belgian artist who was born in 1920 in Kwaremont and who died in 1997 in Oudenaarde. He was a painter. Worked as a physical education and sports teacher from 1939 to 1946 and established himself as a professional painter in 1946. Mainly realized landscapes in the style of the old masters. Painted his Flemish landscapes in the different seasons. From the press: "G.C. let the gently undulating landscape evolve in his work under the light of the four seasons as an unstoppable source of poetic inspiration.' Was mayor of Kwaremont from 1964 to 1970. Bibliography: monograph by Anton van Wildenrode (published by Lannoo, Tielt, 1981). Mentioned in BAS I and Two centuries of signatures of Belgian artists.
