Delfosse Georges

Georges Marie-Joseph Delfosse was a Canadian artist. He was born in 1869 in Québec/Canada and died in 1939 in Montréal/Canada. He was a painter and illustrator. Studied at the National Institute of Fine Arts under Josehp Chabert and at the Art Association of Montréal under William Brymner and Edmond Dyonnet. He held his first exhibition in 1888. Founded the Société Canadienne de Portraits et Tableaux à l'huile in 1890. In 1908, during his honeymoon, he visited Paris and visited the studio of Léon Bonnat and took lessons with Alexei Harlamoff. In 1914 he came to Paris for a second time, but for a short time. His oeuvre is comprehensive: (oil) paintings, frescoes, murals, pastels, watercolors, etchings, drawings, portraits, rural and urban landscapes and towards the end of his career, mainly religious compositions (from 1890).
