Frydman Maurice

Maurice Frydman was a French-Belgian artist, born in Paris in 1928 and died in Anderlecht in 2023. He was a draftsman, painter, sculptor and graphic artist. He received his education at the Grande Chaumière in Paris (1947-1952). In 1955 he moved to Brussels. He found his inspiration in the forms of the human body, which were usually synthesized monumentally. He painted nudes, couples, lovemaking and maternity. He usually limited his color palette to sombre earth tones. He worked as a sculptor in bronze and polyester, among other things. From the press: “First, M.F. from afar to the figures, he tried to capture them in color, movement, but also in shape and relief. After that period of intense study and discovery of the human nude from the outside, he could and wanted to experience a deeper contact. The exploration from within followed.' Maurice Frydman has been working in mixed techniques on cotton since 1985 and then created almost monochromatic works in which the rough structure of the support provides color shades, line and relief effects. Maurice Frydman has exhibited at various institutions, including the Jewish Museum of Belgium (2008), BOZAR in 2011 (Plasticities), IKOB in Eupen (2012) and the Museum of Fine Arts in Liège in 2014 (Spanningen-Torsies) . He also exhibited abroad, including South Korea at the Eco Art Festival Taehwa (2014). He is mentioned in Two centuries of signatures of Belgian artists. (Piron, BT)
