Kunstwerken van de Mechelse kunstenaar Frans Croes

Croes Frans

Frans Croes was a Belgian artist who was born in 1936 in Heffen/Mechelen and who died in 2011 in Mechelen. He was a painter, draftsman and pastelist. Education at the Academy in Mechelen under K. Mechiels and G. Van Hool (1953-1955 and 1965-1966). Was active in the hippie movement in Mechelen in the 1960s. Withdrew to the countryside, continued to work as a visionary painter and, as a privileged spectator, watches from a distance how Western civilization is undermining itself. In this way, you are committed to the environment and a more humane society. Sometimes his work also comes across as cosmically focused. From the press: "F.C. draws and paints from a rich spiritual experience and, moreover, is constantly working on the confrontation of inner and outer experiences' and 'F.C. is a socially engaged artist and he now produces provocative, contesting yet extremely playful drawings. F.C. always gives his drawings a spiritual content. He puts his rich talent entirely at the service of an honest and deep compassion for man, for nature and for the enigma called life.” (Piron)
