
Forest Avril
Avril Forest, Haitian artist, born in Port de Paix/Hait in 1959. He is a surrealist painter. In 1973 he moved to Port-au-Prince/Haiti where he started making collages from dried banana leaves. In 1980 he started at Galerie Monnin and refined his style, which is characterized by dozens of figures in a monochrome landscape. His work has been exhibited in the past in numerous important galleries and museums, including Haus der Kulturen der Welt/Germany. He has participated in many Haitian exhibitions, including Art Cultura/Italy, Bukowskis Gallery/Switzerland, the Naif Art Museum/France, and Canning House/United Kingdom. (BT)
