Labisse Félix
Félix Labisse was a French artist who was born in 1905 in Marchiennes near Douai/France and who died in 1982 in Paris. He was a painter, graphic artist, draftsman, illustrator and designer of theater costumes and sets. Settled in Ostend in 1927 and often stayed there in the company of Permeke, Spilliaert and especially Ensor. In 1932 he chooses Paris, but will still stay in Het Zoute for a few months every year. Surrealist painter, intrigued by the female face and with a preference for nudes, usually painted in blue or red. From 1973 to 1983, he regularly exhibited at the Isy Brachot gallery in Brussels.
