Gogo Félix

Félix Gogo was an Antwerp artist born in Antwerp in 1872 and died in 1953. He was a painter, draftsman and lithographer. Education at the Academy under the direction of E. Joors and at the Higher Institute in Antwerp under the direction of Van Der Ouderaa. Honorable mention at the Prix de Rome in 1898, second prize in 1901. Traveled to Italy and Tunesia. Realized figures, portraits, domestic scenes, interiors, landscapes, beach scenes, cityscapes, still lifes. He often found his inspiration in the Kempen. Smooth impressionistic color palette that comes into its own especially in his landscapes. Loved lighting effects and especially managed to capture the mood of his subjects. Was friends with F. Willaert. Was a member of the group Als Ik Kan in Antwerp. From 1904 was a teacher at the Academy in Dendermonde, from 1910 at the Academy in Antwerp, from 1934 to 1938 director at the Academy in Dendermonde. Work in the Museum in Antwerp.
