Belgische kunstenaar Fernand Lenaerts

Lenaerts Fernand

Fernand Lenaerts was a Belgian artist, born in Anderlecht in 1941 and passed away in Brussels in 1996. He was a painter, draftsman, printmaker and sculptor. He studied at the academies of Sint-Jans-Molenbeek, Brussels and Sint-Joost-ten-Node.

He created figures, nudes, portraits, landscapes and figure compositions. For a brief period, he was fascinated by the themes of death and the fantastic, but most of his works breathe dreamlike qualities, symbolism and at times a certain irony. He used a delicate colour palette, combined with a smooth, elegant and confident line.

Work by Fernand Lenaerts can be found in the museum of Bruges. He is listed in BAS I and Two Centuries of Signatures of Belgian Artists. (Piron)
