Pire Ferdinand

Ferdinand Pire (also: FERDINAND PIRE FERDINAND) is a Belgian artist who was born in 1943 in Brussels. He is a painter, back glass painter, draftsman and poet. Son and pupil of Marcel Pire, grandson of Ernest Ferdinand Pire. Training at the Academy in Brussels and Cape Town/South Africa. Realized cityscapes, landscapes, seascapes, portraits, nudes, figures, still lifes. Color opulence and fairy lines testify to joie de vivre and aesthetic experimentation. From 1987 onwards also often works in the back glass technology. From the press: "F.P.F. mainly paints under glass in the style of Floris Jespers, but with a clear predilection for portraying the love affairs in which an appeal is made to very legible symbols." Traveled a lot. Visited Congo, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greece, Yugoslavia, Tunesia. Spent several years in Sicily and then traveled to the United States and Mexico. Working alternately in Brussels and Malaga/Spain. Individual exhibitions for example in the gallery Le Bercail in Izel-sur-Semois in 1991, in the Abbey of Vorst in Brussels in 2000, in the Royal Library of Belgium in Brussels in 2002. Retrospective after ten years of backglass painting in the town hall in Brussels in 1999. Mentioned in Bas I and Two centuries of signatures of Belgian artists. Source: Piron.
