Espinouze Henri
Henri Espinouze was a French artist born in Perpignan in 1915 and who died in Vichy in 1982. He was a painter, illustrator, engraver, lithographer, and later a writer. He moved to Paris. He illustrated André Breton's "Cahier sur le rêve" and contributed to the magazine "Le Minotaure" under the pseudonym Espinoza. He began as a surrealist painter. From the Second World War onwards, he renewed his inspiration and painting style. He developed an oeuvre that was described by critic Jean Rousselot as "Dionysian" and was more closely connected to the world around him. In addition to Paris, where he lived, he also regularly visited the Dordogne, Vichy, and, sporadically, Brittany.
