Nagy Ernö

Ernö Nagy (Ernest de Nagy) was a Hungarian painter born in Budapest/Hungary in 1881 and died in 1952 in New Jersey/America. He painted portraits, landscapes, still lifes, genres, musicians, gardens, carriages, coastal and sea landscapes. He painted mainly in oil and with a realistic style. In the years 1900-1910 he traveled through Europe, mainly to Germany and Austria. In 1931 he emigrated with his second wife and their children to New York/America, where in 1934 he took part in the 12th annual exhibition of the Salons of America. He eventually settled in McKee City, New Jersey. There he opened an art gallery and installed his studio there. His son Laszlo and his daughter Eva were both also painters, mainly known in America. His portrait of General “Blackjack” Pershing hangs in the Army Base in Arlington Virginia/USA. BT
