van Dulmen Krum Erasmus Bernhard

Erasmus Bernhard van Dulmen Krumpelman was a painter born in 1897 in Kreuznach Germany who died in 1987 in Zeegse in the Netherlands. Van Dulmen was a son of mathematics teacher Erasmus Bernardus van Dulmen Krumpelman and Elisabeth Adam. His parents had met in Kreuznach. Shortly after his birth, the family moved to Amsterdam. He attended a private drawing course at the Hendrik de Keyserschool and continued his studies at the National Normal School for drawing education. In 1918 he became a member of Arti et Amicitiae and regularly exhibited at member exhibitions. He came into contact with artists August Allebé, George Breitner and Willem Witsen, who helped him develop his style. He mainly painted in an impressionistic style. After his marriage in 1921 he settled in Drenthe. He came into contact with painters from Groningen art circle De Ploeg, after which his style of painting became looser and more colorful. He painted and drew landscapes, cityscapes, circus scenes and portraits.
