Belgische kunstschilder uit Deurne Emile Geudens

Geudens Emile

Emile Geudens was a Belgian painter born in Deurne in 1926 and died there in 2011. Geudens, born and raised in Antwerp, received the prestigious title of "Laureate of Art" in 2001 by the Cultural Council of Deurne. He started his painting career at the age of ten. His first painting was entitled "a flower arrangement". This work has unfortunately never been found. Between 1981 and 1984 he took classes at the Academia in Borsbeek. He later took lessons at the Art School in Lier and private lessons with Leonardo Torfs. From 1987 to 2006 he took private painting lessons with Maarten Boffé. In addition to the painters of the New Classical Antwerp School, such as Pol Verswijver and Willem Dolphyn, he was one of the Belgian painters who in the 80s and 90s tried to reinvent realistic still life painting, using a fine technique such as the old one masters, but with fresh, sparkling colors and unusual compositions and subjects.
