Brother of Stan Van Offel. Training at the Academy and the Higher Institute in Antwerp. Best known as an illustrator and typographer. He made his debut as an author in 1896 with the self-illustrated collection of poetry Bloei. His poetic talent was expressed in very fine, poetic drawings, in which mystery, symbolism and reality are woven together. For his paintings he found inspiration in the old city neighborhoods. From the press: "Symbolism best suited his introverted nature and he processed it into a highly personal way of expression, to which he remained faithful even after the art world had already taken completely new paths. Both his texts and drawings are permeated with a mysterious atmosphere," and "He regularly portrayed the picturesque old town as a space in which he felt safe, but which he knew threatened." Was a contributor to the yearbooks of De Scalden. Was a typography teacher at the Nijverheidsschool in Antwerp in 1911-19112. Work in the Museum in Antwerp.
