Bytebier Edgard

Edgard Bytebier was a Belgian artist who was born in Ghent in 1875 and who died in Dilbeek in 1940. He was a painter, draftsman and lithographer. Training at the Academy in Ghent under J. Delvin, then at the Academy in Brussels. Realized landscapes, picturesque corners from the surroundings of Dilbeek and Brussels, more sporadically also figures. Managed to capture the misty atmosphere at dusk in Brabant in his works. His works breathe rural tranquility, poetry and a certain melancholy. From the press: "He is more of a poet than a painter. He is a lover of softly sad evenings, a meditator of unreal dreamscapes.' He also designed posters. Realized large panels for the Floralies Palace at the World Exhibition in Ghent in 1913. Mentioned in BAS I and Two centuries of signatures of Belgian artists. (piron)
