Dubois René

René Dubois was a French-Belgian artist, born in Strasbourg/France in 1869 and died in Mons in 1985. He was a painter and watercolourist. He was educated at the Academy in Brussels from 1892-1893, after which he continued his studies at the Academy (1913-1920). He became a teacher at the Athenaeum of Mons. Influenced by Impressionism, he realized cityscapes, landscapes, marines and portraits of girls. He was a member of the Circle Le Bon Vouloir in Mons. He exhibited at the Salon d'Art Moderne in Charleroi in 1911 and with his Circle at the Center for Fine Arts in Mons in 1956 and posthumously in 1959. We find his work in the Museum in Mons (La Neige, 1934) . René Dubois is mentioned in Two centuries of signatures of Belgian artists. (Piron)
