Donders André

André Donders is a Belgian artist, born in Antwerp in 1944. He is a draughtsman, printmaker, watercolorist, gouachist and designer of objects and peep-boxes. He studied at the Stedelijk Instituut voor Sierkunsten en Ambachten (SISA). In the 1980s he created swarming compositions with almost identical small figures that filled the surface like a strange script and suggested contrasts such as birth and death, love and hate, or man and woman. In 1985 he exhibited at Galerie De Zwarte Panter in Antwerp, presenting among others painted Easter eggs. His work was acquired by the Flemish Community in 1984/1985. (Piron)
