Dolphyn Willem

Willem Dolphyn was a Belgian artist, born in Antwerp in 1935 and died in Antwerp in 2016. He was a painter, miniaturist, graphic artist, illustrator, cartoonist, cartoonist and graphic designer. He was the son of Vic(tor) Dolphyn. He was educated at the Academy and at the Higher Institute in Antwerp. He realized, among other things, still lifes, portraits, seascapes and Scheldt views. From the press: “W.D. achieves in his still lifes an almost perfect harmony between color, form, light and material. His sea and Scheldt cloths are among the best of his works. In fact, he is a classical realist who alone continues the school of W. Vaes and De Braekeleer.” Willem Dolphyn also practiced miniature painting until 1963.
