
Homberg Dirk
Dirk Homberg was a Dutch artist who was born in 1885 in Rotterdam and who died in 1952 in Amsterdam. He was a student of J.H. Weijns and was educated at the Academy of Visual Arts in Rotterdam. He was a painter, draftsman and graphic artist. As an artist he is particularly known for the etchings he made during his stay in Indonesia. With refined technique and sublime observations, he captures the Dutch East Indies of the 1920s and 1930s. Homberg shows in his etchings made in the Dutch East Indies a great love for the country and its inhabitants. His oeuvre is versatile, portraits, nudes, landscapes, still lifes and Oriental scenes. In addition to his own work, he also sold works of art by colleagues.
