De Wint Roger

De Wint, Roger (Brussels, 1942- 2021) · Graphic artist, draftsman, watercolorist, ceramist. Studied drawing at the Academy in Brussels (1964–1968), monumental painting and graphic art at the Academy in Bosvoorde under the tutelage of R. Somville (1966–1973). From the press: 'Through etching and aquatint, he presents his vision of a world that is a victim of chaos' and 'The intensely expressionistic characters, heirs to Bosch and Ensor, move in a world full of scratches and streaks, a mirror of the violence on this planet, about which we are constantly informed.' (R.D.) Worked with R. Somville on the murals in the Hankar metro station in Brussels. Became a teacher of drawing and graphic art at the Academy in Brussels in 1977. Works include works in the Print Cabinets in Brussels and Liège, and in the Museums in Ixelles, Ostend, and Brussels. Mentioned in bas ii and Two Centuries of Signatures of Belgian Artists. (Piron)
