De Wette Jules

Jules De Wette was a Belgian artist, born in Ghent in 1859 and died in Eaubonne (France) in 1930. He was a painter, watercolorist, etcher and decorative painter. He created figures, portraits, village and city views, as well as monastery and school scenes with figures. His work shows a realistic style with impressionist and pointillist influences. On the occasion of the centenary of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts in Ghent, he exhibited at the 35th Salon in the Casino in Ghent, and in 1903 he participated in the Salon Triennal des Beaux-Arts in Brussels. He was a member of the Société Nationale des Aquarellistes et Pastellistes de Belgique in Brussels (including in 1900). In 1903 he was appointed as a teacher at the Academy in Ghent. He is listed in Two Centuries of Signatures of Belgian Artists. (Piron)
