De Smet André

André De Smet was a Belgian painter, born in Mons in 1927. He received his education at the Academy in Binche and at the Westhoek Academy in Koksijde. He settled in Sint-Idesbald and only began his career around 1970. His works are discreet and poetic yet simultaneously monumental, characterized by the use of bold colors. He is listed in "Veurne-Westku(n)st" (1983) (Piron).
