Kunstwerken van de Belgische kunstenaar Remy de Pillecyn

de Pillecyn Remy

Remy De Pillecijn was a Belgian artist, born in Sint-Niklaas in 1920 and died in Herentals in 1986. He was a painter and draftsman. He was the cousin of the author Filip De Pillecijn. He was educated at the Academy in Sint-Niklaas and at the Higher Institute in Antwerp under the supervision of Is. sum up. He was greatly influenced by the latter. In 1962 he settled in the Kempen, where he soon felt at home. He was a very skilled artist, both with the brush and with the drawing pen. He found his inspiration in figures on the fringes of society, but also painted portraits, clowns, landscapes and seascapes. He has been called 'the painter of silent melancholy', an artist who mainly tried to depict the atmosphere and the subtle mood. Optimistic sounds were always tempered by a melancholic tone. Remy De Pillecijn is mentioned in BAS I and Two centuries of signatures of Belgian artists. (Piron)
