Dambiermont Mary

Mary Dambiermont (Liège 1932 – Brussels 1983). Painter, gouache artist, draftswoman, and tapestry designer. Trained at the Academy in Brussels under A. Carte and J. Maes (1947–1954). She began her career designing stage sets, theatrical costumes, stained-glass windows, and mosaics before decisively turning to tapestry design. In her creations, nature and figures are rendered in a lyrical and poetic manner, transformed into stylized, brightly colored compositions. From 1974 onwards, she also painted large-scale canvases using an equally vivid color palette. She was a member of the Fédération Féminine Artistique Belge.
