D'Aquavilia Walt

Walt D’Aquavilia, the pseudonym of Walter Van Ranst, is a Belgian artist born in Hingene in 1932. He is a painter, draughtsman, and printmaker, and signs his works as Walt. His style occasionally leans towards surrealism. From the press: "The woman remains his main symbol (enigma, the mysterious), around which various symbols are poetically assembled." He illustrated, among other things, "Seven Women Around Uilenspiegel, Seven Ballads" by the poet Bert Peleman. In 1973 and 1974, he exhibited with Les Arts en Europe in Brussels. During the 1980s, his works found places in the Pushkin Museum in Moscow, the Galleria degli Uffizi in Florence, the UNESCO museum in the United States, and in university collections, including those in Sheffield and Wisconsin. In Flanders, his works are part of the collections at the Plantin Moretus Museum in Antwerp, the Guido Gezelle Museum in Bruges, and Huyze de Grote Sterre in Damme. Walt D’Aquavilia is listed in "Two Centuries of Signatures of Belgian Artists" (Piron, BT).
