Cornelis Jozef W
Jozef W. Cornelis was a Belgian artist, born in Antwerp in 1941 and died in Burriana/Spain in 2011. He was a graphic artist, draftsman, and painter. He received his education at the Academy and the Higher Institute in Antwerp under the guidance of G. De Bruyne. His compositions with figures exude poetry and symbolism.
From the press: "Besides the powerful simplicity of his monumental art, we particularly appreciate J.C.'s imaginative and joyful 'small art', in which he often depicts people and things in a refined and humorous manner. He employs various modern techniques in a personal and artistically responsible way, which nevertheless shows that he possesses an extraordinary drawing talent." (A. Vlaskop, 1968).
He was among others represented at the "Kunst en WIZO" sales exhibition at the Hessenhuis in Antwerp in 1967 with Judith, Bloemen, and Het Beloofde land. He was a teacher at the Academy in Lier. (Piron)
