Claessens Charles-Marie

Charles (Karel) Claessens was a Belgian painter, born in Antwerp in 1864 and died in Berchem (Antwerp) in 1938. From 1884 he lived in Mol, where he worked together with Jakob Smits. Around 1900 he moved to the nearby hamlet of Sluis, and in 1905 to his welcoming “Schilderhuis” (Painter’s House) in the Galbergen. He exhibited among others at the Exposition Internationale d’Art in Mol in 1907. (Piron)
