Tonbreeker Chris

Chris Tonbreeker is a Dutch artist born in Amsterdam in 1927 and died in Zandvoort in 1995. He was a painter, watercolorist, etcher, draftsman and lithographer. He used a figurative and abstract style. He also designed book covers. He was educated at the graphic school in the late 1950s. However, he was more attracted to the visual arts and developed himself. He has exhibited regularly. His work was largely purchased through the BKR and posted locally. In 1996 an exhibition was held in the then cultural center in Zandvoort. In 2017, a large part of the documents were transferred to the Onterfd Goed Foundation. In the collection of the Zandvoorts Museum there are still a number of drawings, watercolors and gouaches of dune landscapes, still lifes and female nudes. (Scheen)
