Belgische schilder Chris Pots

Pots Chris

Chris Pots (Théophile Christiaan) was a Belgian artist born in Ghent in 1929 and died there in 1981. He was a painter, draftsman, pastelist, lithographer and designer of tapestry cartons. Education at the Academy in Ghent, conducted by Frans Mussche, W. Sybrands, Pauwels, J. De Sutter. Initially attracted to lithography, taught by H. Verbaere and Luc de Rijcke. Realized interiors, (dancing) figures, nudes, landscapes, (Latem) village views, intimate still lifes and flowers. Evolved from impressionism to neo-expressionism. As a draftsman he had strongly prefered female nudes. From the press: "His nude studies reveal his mastery of the human figure" and "Interiors built in the heck, sparkling with vitality and color, reflect the full harmony of his palette." Was working in Sint-Martens-Latem from 1966, where his painting came to full development. Mentioned in BAS I and Two Centuries of Signatures of Belgian Artists. (PIRON)
