Ferket Chris
Chris Ferket or in full Chretien Joseph Ferket was a Belgian artist who was born in 1929 in Stekene and who died in 2009 in Deinze. He was a painter, graphic artist, sculptor, poet and author. Pupil of W. Kreitz, A. Andries and A. Servaes. For some time he worked in Sint-Martens-Latem. Found his inspiration in the human figure, clowns, animal figures, horses. Realized monuments around Reinaert de Vos in various municipalities. The artist: 'Reinaart de Vos runs like a red thread through my oeuvre.' Worked mainly as a classic 'hairdresser' in bluestone, but also realized works in bronze. Also author of Ode aan de Schelde in Terneuzen/Netherlands, of the Monument to the Seal in Pieterburen/Netherlands, of a fountain monument in De Pinte, a natural monument in Melle. Designed the annual trophy for the European Community. Until 1990 he was a teacher at the Free Academy in Ghent and also gave seminars abroad. Settled in Deinze.
