
Chavepeyer Gomer
Gomer Chavepeyer was a Belgian artist, born in Châtelet in 1922 and died in Presles in 1973. He was a painter and draftsman. He worked in the studios of his father, Albert Chavepeyer, and of his uncle, G. Camus. He trained at the Academy of Liège, under the guidance of J. Ransy. He made genre scenes, landscapes, portraits, flowers, still lifes and later also compositions from the imagination. In the beginning he was influenced by neo-impressionism, then, under the influence of G. Camus, he worked in a more structured and geometric manner. Later his design would be influenced by Michel Jasmin and the Maka Group. He was co-founder of the Sextant Group. Gomer Chavepeyer was a board member of the Cercle Artistique de Cercle Artistique de Châtelet. He was a teacher at the Academy in Bergen from 1965 to 1973.
