Swyncop Charles

Charles Swyncop was a Belgian artist who was born in Brussels in 1895 who died there in 1970. He was a painter, draftsman and lithographer. He was Philippe Swyncop's younger brother and student. Training at the Academy in Brussels under the direction of J. Delville and H. Richir (1908-1917 and 1919-1920). Honorable mention (third prize) at the Prix de Rome in 1920. Realized landscapes, cityscapes, seascapes, still lifes, genre scenes, figures, portraits. Traveled to Rome and Venice, among others. Like his brother, he also found inspiration in Spain, where he created numerous daily scenes and portraits of Spanish beauties. Sunny impressionistic color palette, loose and spontaneous brushstroke.
